Rotary Endodontics

Endodontics, more commonly known as root canal, is a procedure where the pulp of the tooth are removed. This is often due to the fact that they are infected and the tooth is causing extreme pain.

Rotary Endodontics is a way of performing the root canal utilizing a specific electrical handpiece. This tool often makes the process faster and allows the dentist to perform the process with greater ease.

At SOFTOUCH DENTAL, Dr. J. Nguyen can perform a root canal treatment and restore the tooth (cap/crown) in 1 visit under Sedation.

This is one of our "Bread & Butter" procedure that is performed on a routine basis during an Emergency Treatment to help save the tooth.

If you have a throbbing pain on a tooth, you need to seek the Dentist immediately, as the Root Canal Treatment is time sensitive, and the Doctor can no longer save the tooth, or the Root Canal Treatment can be poor prognosis or high risk procedure in an attempt to save the tooth.

Remember, a routine 6-12mo Check-up can actually save you alot of money, due to the fact that if a cavity that is detected early, can be treated with a Filling. When a cavity has penetrate too deep into the nerve of the tooth, causing throbbing pain, infection, a Filling can no longer perform on the tooth. If it is not too late, the Doctor will perform the Root Canal Treatment (RCT) in an attempt to save the tooth. In most cases, the next treatment is to protect the tooth with a crown (cap) to prevent recurrent infection or fracture. This is why the 2 procedures must be performed simultaneously to ensure the success for the RCT.

If you never had a RCT or a Crown done, the Emergency Visit can be devastating, since you not only have a terrible toothache, you will have to deal with the cost of $1,000 - $2,500 in order to save the tooth. PPO dental insurance only cover up to...$800-$1000 depending on your Plan.

Now you might say: "Well, I might just have  the tooth removed." That is another option, but remember, removing the tooth and replacing it with an implant /Crown will cost more than the RCT/CRN.

Not replacing the missing tooth will cause adjacent teeth to drift, drop and "out of alignment" causing more problem such as: broken teeth, extrusion, decay...and in the end, you will lose more teeth, costing more and more money.

Abvreviation:

- RCT: Root Canal Treatment

- Crown: CRN
